Frost-proof faucet equipped with a long tube which penetrates the soil. When you turn the knurled knob on the outside, a long shaft in the middle of the tube, releasing a valve at the inner end of the tube and let the water run. If you turn off the tap, emptying the water in the hose out and there is nothing to freeze in the faucet.
Everything is fine if you leave a hose connected to the tap. If the hose is connected, can not empty the water from the pipe can. In a night with temperatures below about 20 degrees, the water in the pipe freezes. As noted in the fourth grade, water is a liquid that expands when it freezes. When the water in the tube, then freezes can burst the pipe. And after all, but your installer will regret it.
So take your time this evening to remove the hose from your exterior fittings. If you have a conventional crane, place a towel in order to buy it, or covering a foam to protect it on cold nights.
